I listened to part of a sermon the other day, about believing the forecast. Believing what God says will happen.
It left me thinking. Many times, I feel we don’t really believe what God’s saying over our lives because we are so used to being disappointed or hearing a wrong forecast. Just like the weatherman on T.V., for example. People grumble and complain all the time because they get the forecast wrong. We have grown accustomed to not having rain when they said it would rain. Or having rain on what should’ve been a sunny day.
But God is not your local weatherman. He does know the future. In fact, He knows the past, present and future of every single person who ever lived. So, He can and does, in fact, give accurate “forecasts”. You must only choose to believe Him.
Today, I want you to take some time and reflect on all the things God has spoken over your life. Whether He told you Himself, or had another person come and prophesy over you, remember it. If you have prophetic words written out somewhere, then pull those out.
Take time today to honor those words. Honor them by reading them or remembering them again, and then say, “Amen” to God. Believe the things He has said. Come into agreement with those words.
Won’t you pray this prayer with me today:
God, You have spoken so many wonderful things over my life. Today, I come before You in agreement with every single word You have ever given me. I believe You. Forgive me, Father, for any time I walked opposite those words. Forgive me for times when I thought You were a liar. Forgive me for my doubt. God, restore my heart. Strengthen my resolve and let Your words flood out all the lies that have been spoken over me. Your words are the only ones I want to hear. Your truth is THE truth. Teach me to partner with You. Teach me to trust you. Increase my faith and my willingness to walk out that faith. I am Yours completely. In Jesus name, Amen.
To the faithful you show yourself faithful, to the blameless you show yourself blameless, to the pure you show yourself pure, but to the devious you show yourself shrewd. You save the humble but bring low those whose eyes are haughty. You, Lord, keep my lamp burning; my God turns my darkness into light. With your help I can advance against a troop; with my God I can scale a wall. As for God, his way is perfect. The Lord’s word is flawless; he shields all who take refuge in him. For who is God besides the Lord? And who is the Rock except our God? It is God who arms me with strength and keeps my way secure. He makes my feet like the feet of a deer; he causes me to stand on the heights. He trains my hands for battle; my arms can bend a bow of bronze. You make your saving help my shield, and your right hand sustains me; your help has made me great. You provide a broad path for my feet, so that my ankles do not give way. Psalm 18:25-36
