There is no one like the God of Jeshurun, Who rides on the heavens to help you and on the clouds in His majesty. The eternal God is your refuge, and underneath are the everlasting arms. He will drive out your enemy before you, saying, “Destroy him!” Deuteronomy 33:27
Praise the Lord, O my soul. O Lord my God, You are very great; You are clothed with splendor and majesty. He wraps Himself in light as with a garment; He stretches out the heavens like a tent and lays the beams of His upper chambers on their waters. He makes the clouds His chariot and rides on the wings of the wind. Psalm 104:1-3
Recently, when I was running I thought, “I saw the storm clouds rolling in and I was afraid, until I saw you riding on the clouds.”
When we are concerned about the future or even the day ahead of us, we can stop and remember that He rides upon the clouds. He is always in command. He is never weak.
Our God is Champion.
Today, as you head out to church, take a moment and remind yourself that He rides upon the clouds. Do you foresee trouble in your future? Then imagine God standing on top of that problem. It doesn’t look so daunting now, does it? If there is a person in your life that makes you feel in constant turmoil, then imagine God over that relationship. Let Him shift your perspective. Receive His strength. Go out and love that person. I know you can do it!
As you worship this morning, whether at church or at home, see God for Who He truly is, Infinite and Sovereign and wrapped in Holiness. Our God is an awesome God. Why wouldn’t we want to praise Him?!
Praise the Lord. How good it is to sing praises to our God, how pleasant and fitting to praise Him! The Lord builds up Jerusalem; He gathers the exiles of Israel. He heals the brokenhearted and binds up their wounds. He determines the number of the stars and calls them each by name. Great is our Lord and mighty in power; His understanding has no limit. The Lord sustains the humble but casts the wicked to the ground. Sing to the Lord with grateful praise; make music to our God on the harp. He covers the sky with clouds; He supplies the earth with rain and makes grass grow on the hills. He provides food for the cattle and for the young ravens when they call. His pleasure is not in the strength of the horse, nor His delight in the legs of the warrior; the Lord delights in those who fear Him, who put their hope in His unfailing love. Psalm 147:1-11
