Deeper Day 98: Empty Shelves, Searching for Abundance

As I walked through Walmart the other day, I was again taken back by the emptiness of some shelves.  These same shelves abounded with products and choices, merely a few weeks ago.  I know that none of us ever imagined anything like this happening, but what are you doing with it?

I mean, when you walk around a once full store or when you drive by a restaurant that was a favorite, but now is closed until further notice, or your favorite boutique…the list could go on and on, how do you process it?  I admonish you to ask God to keep your heart and mind wrapped in His abundance.  It is possible, even expected of God’s people, to find abundance within our hearts and minds under all circumstances.

We have access to a river that never runs dry.  Our God supplies all our needs according to His glorious riches, and we must learn to live in a contentment that is independent of our current circumstances.  This is the heart of gratitude, and that is where abundance is found.

Paul reminds us in Philippians:

I know what it is to be in need, and I have learned the secret of being content in any and every situation, whether well fed or hungry, whether living in plenty or in want.  I can do everything through Him Who gives me strength.  Philippians 4:12-13

And

And my God will meet all your needs according to His glorious riches in Christ Jesus. Philippians 4:19

The words in verse 19 especially ring in my heart.  They remind me that God provides abundantly for us, from His abundance.  He is not lacking in anything.  Remember that every moment of every day, especially right now.  Our God has ALL we will ever need.

Prayer Moment:  God, I thank You for Your faithfulness, but I also thank You that there is no poverty within Your Presence.  Everything about You is abundant.  I am so grateful that when I bring You whatever I have, You meet it with excellence and abundance.  I am never lacking.  Thank You for being my God.  I will follow You forever.  In Jesus name, Amen.

Now to Him Who is able to do immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine, according to His power that is at work within us, to Him be glory in the church and in Christ Jesus throughout all generations, for ever and ever!  Amen.  Ephesians 3:20

He raises the poor from the dust and lifts the needy from the ash heap; He seats them with princes, with the princes of their people.  He settles the barren woman in her home as a happy mother of children.  Praise the Lord.  Psalm 113:7-9
