Have you ever felt like you were suffocating? As if the pressures and uncertainties of this life had become weights upon your chest and you struggled to even take the shallowest of breaths? I certainly have. There are times when I feel so pressed in upon from every side that my breath is cut short by the pressure. I am aware that many of you may be feeling exactly this way right now.
I have good news, though, God is the breath of life. It’s amazing how just typing those words made my lungs suddenly fill up with air.
Friend, when we acknowledge Who God is, then we come into agreement with all that He does. It affords us so much grace. God is the breath of life. It was the air from His lungs that first filled Adams body, and He’s been doing it ever since.
Today, I want to offer you an opportunity to lean into the Father’s chest and listen to Him breathing. Imagine that life giving breath breathing over you as you lay on Him. Can you feel the rising of His chest with each inhalation? Do you feel the peaceful release of His every exhale?
Stop. Take a moment. Listen. Lean.
He’s breathing over you. Do you feel your own breathing becoming steady now? Isn’t it amazing how that works?!
I pray that every time you feel you chest tighten or your throat close up with all the fears of life, you’ll choose to stop. Stop and take a moment to listen and lean. Hear His breath, and feel His chest rise and fall and let Him give you your breath back.
Prayer Moment: My hope is that today you will take multiple pit stops and allow yourself to re-center. Lean into the Lord and allow Him to give you your breath back. He is never in a rush, so take your time. Remove yourself from the orbit of this life and come into the orbit of heaven as you breathe and listen. He loves you and longs for this intimate encounter with you.

Thus says God, the Lord, Who created the heavens and stretched them out, Who spread out the earth and what comes from it, Who gives breath to the people on it and spirit to those who walk in it. Isaiah 42:5
Jesus said to them again, “Peace be with you. As the Father has sent me, even so I am sending you.” And when He had said this, He breathed on them and said to them, “Receive the Holy Spirit.” John 20:21-22
