Deeper Day 122: Foundational Foundation

Foundation: The lowest load-bearing part of a building, typically below ground level. An underlying basis or principle. The action of establishing an institution or organization on a permanent basis, especially with an endowment.

We all must have a solid foundation. There is no question that if we are to grow in the Lord, then we require a firm foundation.

During this time when we have been forced to drastically change our lifestyles and many of us are remote schooling our kids, and all of us are being held hostage in one way or another to this “invisible threat” we must push into that foundation in order to survive.

My message today is mostly for those who are maybe discovering that their foundation isn’t all it needs to be. Friend, that’s ok, it’s not too late. If you’re realizing you have not yet invested enough in this pivotal piece, then now is an opportune time to start.

Take this time to begin to steep yourself in the Word of God. Open your Bible every single day and begin to knead the truth into your heart. Soon you will realize you’ve hidden within your heart the tools you need to walk out all circumstances. The Word of God is a constant source of strength to me. It’s also a constant reminder of what is true. I imagine you would agree with me that now, more than ever, we must be able to discern the truth from the lies. God’s Word will help you to do that.

Prayer Moment: I want to leave you with a foundational Psalm. Read it a few times over and let the words roll around your heart and see if you begin to find strength from them. God’s Word never becomes obsolete or irrelevant. It’s to be a light for our hearts as we navigate dark times.

I look up to the mountains- does my help come from there? My help comes from the Lord, Who made heaven and earth! He will not let you stumble; the One Who watches over you will not slumber. Indeed, He Who watches over Israel never slumbers or sleeps. The Lord Himself watches over you! The Lord stands beside you as your protective shade. The sun will not harm you by day, nor the moon at night. The Lord keeps you from all harm and watches over your life. The Lord keeps watch over you as you come and go, both now and forevermore. Psalm 121

Any time I feel threatened or worried about health and well-being, I remind myself of these words for that Psalm, “The Lord keeps you from all harm and watches over your life.” I rest in this promise and walk out my life as if I truly believe those words. I will not fear because He has promised to protect me.

What promises do you feel are set within your heart? I would love to hear about them from you.
