Therefore, God gave them over in the sinful desires of their hearts to sexual impurity for the degrading of their bodies with one another. They exchanged the truth of God for a lie and worshiped and served created things rather than the Creator- Who is forever praised. Amen. Because of this, God gave them over to shameful lusts. Even their women exchanged natural relations for unnatural ones. In the same way the men also abandoned natural relations with women and were inflamed with lust for one another. Men committed indecent acts with other men and received in themselves the due penalty for their perversion. Furthermore, since they did not think it worthwhile to retain the knowledge of God, He gave them over to a depraved mind, to do what ought not to be done. They have become filled with every kind of wickedness, evil, greed and depravity. They are full of envy, murder, strife, deceit and malice. They are gossips, slanderers, God-haters, insolent, arrogant and boastful; they invent ways of doing evil; they disobey their parents; they are senseless, faithless, heartless, ruthless. Although they know God’s righteous decree that those who do such things deserve death, they not only continue to do these very things but also approve of those who practice them. Romans 1:24-32
There’s nothing new under the sun, just like I said the other day. What we see today has happened before. God has dealt with the depravity of mankind since the beginning. So what is our role? Should we just give up because, “It’s so bad that it can’t be turned around.”? Obviously not, because if that was true, we wouldn’t have ever been a society of moral standing in the first place. If situations like the one described in the above scripture were unredeemable, then how did we become a Christian nation when we were founded?
My point is, when you read scripture and realize that it is true and happened many years ago, then you realize that turning points have occurred since the beginning of time. We are at such a time. We are at a turning point.
All hope is not lost. Things are not irreversible. God’s seen this before. We the people must stand. We must stand on scripture. We must stand unapologetically upon what God has said in His word, and not some other version of the “truth”. When we read, it is clear that the draw to believe half-truths and manipulations of truth has also always been around. But so have steady believers. There have always been those who held truth near and followed the real way. So, let’s be those. Let’s be the ones who tip the ship back in the right direction. Let’s be the ones who help turn America back in the right direction.
Prayer Moment: God, I pray that You would give each person who reads this devotional, a fresh perspective and a renewed sense of purpose. Let Your word be in our hearts so that we will not sin against You. Help us to be carriers of the Truth. There is no such thing as each person having their own truth. You are the Truth. You are steady and remain the same from the beginning of time, until the end. Remind us of that every day so that we are never bamboozled by the flood of half-truths and lies that present themselves to us every day. I am a follower of Christ. Help me to always walk in Truth. In Jesus name, Amen.
