The Fountain Day 82: Goodness

I will praise You, O Lord, with all my heart; I will tell of all Your wonders.  I will be glad and rejoice in You; I will sing praise to Your name, O Most High.  Psalm 9:1-2

I took my son to a movie today, and in the middle of it and out of nowhere, I had a vision.

I saw a succession of memories that hold a lot of shame in them.  They are memories from deep in my past and I usually try to avoid them.  I have asked for forgiveness over each instance and have forgiven others involved.  Still, they continue to plague me, even after all this time.  Today when they came, it was so random and out of the blue that I was so startled, and asked God why I was seeing them.  Then I saw a dandelion.  I blew on it and all the seeds flew off and went into the ground…planted and ready to grow.  Then I felt a fresh wind over me and was full of faith as I asked God to make good things out of every one of those terrible memories.

Wow!! It was a super powerful moment as I felt I finally conquered so much shame in a second, during a random movie.

God’s goodness is so consuming that He can even turn the darkest moments of our lives into something good.  Today, I saw that in a much grander scale than ever before.

I mean, I expect that God will make good out of hard things that happen to me…but to see that He wants to make good from the bad things I have done myself…well, this was a whole new thought for me.

Maybe this concept is old to you, but I feel like it shifted my world.  The goodness of God is far grander than I ever knew!!

God loves us so much more than we can comprehend.  He is so much better than we could ever believe.  He is wonderful, isn’t He?

So, I have come down to rescue them from the hand of the Egyptians and to bring them up out of that land into a good and spacious land, a land flowing with milk and honey.  Exodus 3:8a

Lord, remove me from the slavery of bad memories.  Bring me into a good and spacious land, a land flowing with milk and honey.  Turn all the dark days of my distant past into flowers that adorn the future.  Make them good.  Redeem me fully.  You make all things beautiful in Your time.  I trust in that.  Come and make me beautiful.  I love You.  In Jesus’ name, Amen.

But I trust in Your unfailing love; my heart rejoices in Your salvation.  I will sing to the Lord, for He has been good to me.  Psalm 13

I said to the Lord, “You are my Lord; apart from You I have no good thing.”  Psalm 16:2

I love You, O Lord, my strength.  The Lord is my rock, my fortress and my deliverer; my God is my rock, in Whom I take refuge.  He is my shield and the horn of my salvation, my stronghold.  I call to the Lord, Who is worthy of praise, and I am saved from my enemies.  Psalm 18:1-3
