“In the last days, God says, I will pour out My Spirit on all people. Your sons and daughters will prophesy, your young men will see visions, your old men will dream dreams. Even on My servants, both men and women, I will pour out My Spirit in those days, and they will prophesy. I will show wonders in the heaven above and signs on the earth below, blood and fire and billows of smoke. The sun will be turned to darkness and the moon to blood before the coming of the great and glorious day of the Lord. And everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved.” Acts 2:17-21
In this season of the earth, I feel the Lord’s pull to reach deeper and deeper into the prophetic. When the world is busy spinning lies every day, it becomes invaluable to discern the truth. The prophetic helps us to do so.
Now, I’ve been told by some that they believe Holy Spirit only moved on the earth through the apostles, and then stopped…but nothing that I have read in the entire Bible indicates that to be true…in fact, from what I read it’s the opposite. Holy Spirit was a gift given by Jesus and still moves today. Why on earth would Jesus give a gift and then simply take it away. No, the Giver of all good things, gave us Holy Spirit to instruct and comfort us. We still need those two things now.
Who can prophesy?
Well, in the scripture at the beginning of this devotional, it’s clear that all can. When we read here, we see that reinforced…
Let love be your highest goal! But you should also desire the special abilities the Spirit gives- especially the ability to prophesy. 1 Corinthians 14:1
Can we just admit that we can all prophesy? More than that, that we should all desire to do so.
I love encouragement just as much as the next person and when we give someone a prophetic encouragement, it makes them feel extra special to God. It’s one way heaven touches earth in a person’s life. It’s one way we are the hands and feet of God.
Another reason that prophesy is special is because it causes us to love others more. I never give someone a prophetic word until I feel God’s love over them, lest it be rooted in self-righteousness from my heart. I wait on the love. It guides me. When I come into contact with God’s love over a person, then I can be sure that they will feel loved…and that’s a large part of the goal.
When a person feels loved, they are more likely to succeed at something, try something new, give love to others…and the list can go on. But only good things come from a person feeling loved.
I know we aren’t to be led by feelings, but that doesn’t mean we don’t have feelings. We absolutely have feelings. Having them isn’t wrong. It’s what we do with them that matters.
Feeling loved is very important. God is love.
My hope is that today you will seek God’s voice for others and spread love. It’s a great investment to make…and undoubtedly, when you make others feel loved, you will also feel loved!
We know how much God loves us, and we have put our trust in His love. God is love, and all who live in love live in God, and God lives in them. And as we live in God, our love grows more perfect. So, we will not be afraid on the day of judgment, but we can face Him with confidence because we live like Jesus here in this world. 1 John 4:16-17
