As we all face daily challenges and push back from the enemy, as we see things in the world that just don’t make sense, as our own government has betrayed us, as we wonder where this is all going…I find my peace in scripture. God breathed scripture.
Keep it simple today, lay aside the worries and uncertainties of the earth and look into heaven through scripture, to find His perspective…
Through You, we push back our enemies; through Your name we trample our foes. I do not trust in my bow, my sword does not bring me victory; but You give us victory over our enemies, You put our adversaries to shame. In God we make our boast all day long, and we will praise Your name forever. Psalm 44:5-8
It is through Him that we do all things. It’s His power that wins wars. It’s His voice that gives us wisdom. He alone brings victory or defeat. We have no right to take the credit. In Him we boast. He alone is capable. He alone is worthy.
We must return to this simple truth.
As I read through scripture and observe the faith of those long past, I notice how important it was for each to consult the Lord on their decisions…and how there were always consequences when they didn’t. All throughout the Old Testament, we read of prophets leading the way with their words from the Lord, and kings rising or falling based on their willingness to consult God before going to wage war, etc. This need has not changed. We need to consult the Lord every day.
You should know this, Timothy, that in the last days there will be very difficult times. For people will love only themselves and their money. They will be boastful and proud, scoffing at God, disobedient to their parents, and ungrateful. They will consider nothing sacred. They will be unloving and unforgiving; they will slander others and have no self-control. They will be cruel and hate what is good. They will betray their friends, be reckless, be puffed up with pride, and love pleasure rather than God. They will act religious, but they will reject the power that could make them godly. Stay away from people like that! They are the kind who work their way into people’s homes and win the confidence of vulnerable women who are burdened with the guilt of sin and controlled by various desires. (Such women are forever following new teachings, but they are never able to understand the truth.) These teachers oppose the truth just as Jannes and Jambres opposed Moses. They have depraved minds and a counterfeit faith. But they won’t get away with this for long. Someday everyone will recognize what fools they are, just as with Jannes and Jambres. 2 Timothy 3:1-9
I don’t know how anyone could read the above scripture and not see clearly that these are the very times we are living right now. I know the “church” is coming out with so much wokeness, but we must remain steadfast and hold only to the Truth. The Truth doesn’t change on a whim. The Truth is a Spirit from Heaven. The Holy Spirit.
“When the Spirit of Truth comes, He will guide you into all truth. He will not speak on His own but will tell you what He has heard. He will tell you about the future. He will bring me glory by telling you whatever He receives from Me. All that belongs to the Father is mine; this is why I said, ‘The Spirit will tell you whatever He receives from Me.'” John 16:13-15
This is what we all need to lean into now. The voice of Holy Spirit. The voice of Truth. It is through Him, we will know what is right and wrong, what is true and a lie. We must cling to Holy Spirit as if our very lives depend upon it…because they do.
