The Fountain Day 139: Enthralled

Recently, while spending time with God, He spoke to me that He was enthralled with me.  I knew the word, but really didn’t know the specific definition, so I looked it up.

Enthrall:  Capture the fascinated attention of.

Then I searched the Bible to see if the word “enthralled” was contained within it…

Let the king be enthralled by your beauty; honor him, for he is your lord.  Psalm 45:11

This Psalm is listed as a wedding song…

What a beautiful picture.

Isn’t it just like the Lord to lavish upon us such a beautiful word?  He is gracious.  When I consider it, I realize that we do choose whether or not to allow Him to be enthralled with us…just like the Psalm says, “Let the king be enthralled…”.  I believe, even though I don’t fully understand, that we can hide ourselves from God.  Being seen is a choice.

Now, don’t get me wrong…God is Sovereign.  He knows all things, can see all things…but as we saw in the garden with Adam and Eve they hid from Him.  Now, I am very certain He knew exactly where they were, but He also knew they were hiding from Him.  He calls us out.  He invites us into His Presence, to be seen.

Are you willing to be seen?  Will you also allow the Lord to be enthralled with you?

I became enthralled with God years ago.  I have since been desperate to stay in His Presence.  I ask Him to be in every day.  I sit with Him every morning.  He is my first choice.  My most certain choice.  Walking intimately with Him for this long, has led me to feel comfortable in His gaze.  I invite Him to see all of me.  I never hide from Him.  Even on my darkest day, I come fully to Him, and invite His gaze.  I stand naked and unafraid before His Presence.

His gaze is alarmingly assuring.  His gaze is never something that causes me to feel insecure.  Quite the contrary, when I feel Him looking upon me, I only feel loved and accepted.  The King of the Universe…when His attention is on me, it’s an honor.

The Lord is gracious and righteous, our God is full of compassion.  The Lord protects the simplehearted, when I was in great need, He saved me.  Be at rest once more, O my soul for the Lord has been good to you.  Psalm 116:5-7
