Finally, brothers, whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable- if anything is excellent or praiseworthy- think about such things. Whatever you have learned or received or heard from me, or seen in me- put it into practice. And the God of peace will be with you. Philippians 4:8-9
When the swirl of the world and all it’s sounds fills your mind in a constant barrage, it’s so important to continually and repetitively return to the base…to our foundation…what is true, noble, right, pure, lovely, admirable, etc. The world is continually trying to pervert everything. They long to pervert our children, any form of godliness, all purity. But we fight back the hardest when we simply simplify…
We do this by returning to simple truth, nobleness, rightness, purity, etc.
Our greatest weapon is the simple gospel…the simple truth.
The gospel is simple. It’s very black and white. It’s so easy to live right when we really know what scripture says and what God says to us now, through Holy Spirit.
I don’t know about you, but recently I’ve felt under attack in my mind. I know what I believe, but all the loud noise and manipulation, can have a sneaky way of pulling at our heart strings and making us feel like if we don’t comply, then we’re bad people. But we’re not. Agreeing to a lie is the most unloving thing we can do. It hurts more than it helps.
We have shifted into a season where the truth is considered hate, but it isn’t. Changing language doesn’t change truth. We must break agreement with the spirit of intimidation that tells us that we can’t speak up or else. Rise up!! Rise up!!
It’s time to take the ground we’ve relented to the enemy…it’s time to take back territory. It’s not a time to idly stand by, rather it’s a time to advance. Rise up!! Stand for truth. Stand for righteousness. This is the most merciful thing we can do.
The spirit of the world behaves much like a spoiled toddler. Laying down and throwing a temper tantrum when it doesn’t get its way. Now, remember what’s the best remedy for a child throwing tantrums? Ignoring them and walking away. Don’t engage. Stand firm. Continue in truth.
These same things we did when our kids were pushing our limits most certainly apply for living through today.
I implore you today to take time to re-focus your heart. Intentionally focus on what you know to be true, noble, right, pure, lovely and admirable…yes, it’s time to redeem the word admirable…declaring you are living your own truth is not admirable, it’s an abomination. Admirable is standing for truth when nobody else agrees. Admirable is leading your family in purity, even when the world is saying you’re a prude. Admirable is standing for what is lovely…the innocence of a child is lovely. Holiness is so lovely. Freedom is lovely. Let the revolution first come to your own heart…and once you’ve re-established yourself in the firm foundation, let God lead you into whatever comes next. You can weather this season. The reward will be great!
