The world pretends to be wise, when they’re really so very foolish. Then God uses the foolish things to confound the wise…I love the way God works.
When the ways of the world leave you baffled…When even some in the church seem to simply fall in line with overtly obvious lies…remember that the wisdom of the world is a fraud.
What is true wisdom? This scripture gives us some understanding of that.
For the Lord gives wisdom, and from His mouth come knowledge and understanding. He holds victory in store for the upright, He is a shield to those whose walk is blameless, for He guards the course of the just and protects the way of His faithful ones. Proverbs 2:6-8
When considering the lack of wisdom in the world, ask yourself this question…How can those who deny the existence of God and/or mock Him, ever know anything?
If God is the source of wisdom, knowledge and understanding then it would be very hard for atheists to have any of those things. Acting out from the flesh, leads to death. Acting from the influence of Holy Spirit, brings wisdom.
Let’s also consider this scripture…
Who is wise and understanding among you? Let him show it by his good life, by deeds done in the humility that comes from wisdom. But if you harbor bitter envy and selfish ambition in your hearts, do not boast about it or deny the truth. Such “wisdom” does not come down from heaven but is earthly, unspiritual, of the devil. For where you have envy and selfish ambition, there you find disorder and every evil practice. But the wisdom that comes from heaven is first of all pure; then peace-loving, considerate, submissive, full of mercy, and good fruit, impartial and sincere. Peacemakers who sow in peace raise a harvest of righteousness. James 3:13-18
We demonstrate wisdom in the way we live. Humility is a consistent factor of godly living.
But it’s striking how clear the Word is about where things like bitter envy and selfish ambition come from. The are of the devil.
It’s ok for things to be clear. Black and white, if you will.
How many people operate from bitter envy and selfish ambition? How many church leaders do? How many Christians in the marketplace? It’s always been shocking to me when you can see a person at church every week, then go to their business and discover they are living a double life. Swindling, cheap skating, etc. It’s heart breaking really.
Wisdom doesn’t leave us when we leave the church.
It’s abiding. Wisdom should abide in us. It should set the compass of our lives.
I encourage you to go to God and ask for His wisdom to wrap around you. Guide you. Instruct you. Teach you.
Let’s be wrapped in wisdom.
