Resurrection Day 91: Quiet Strength

It’s funny how God speaks sometimes.  A few days ago we were admonished to “Bang the drum”…and today He speaks about quiet strength.

He’s all things at once, isn’t He.

I wait quietly before God, for my victory comes from Him.  He alone is my rock and my salvation, my fortress where I will never be shaken.  So many enemies against one man- all of them trying to kill me.  To them I’m just a broken-down wall or a tottering fence.  They plan to topple me from my high position.  They delight in telling lies about me.  They praise me to my face but curse me in their hearts.  Let all that I am wait quietly before God.  He alone is my rock and my salvation, my fortress where I will not be shaken.  My victory and honor come from God alone.  He is my refuge, a rock where no enemy can reach me.  O my people, trust in Him at all times.  Pour out your heart to Him, for God is our refuge.  Common people are as worthless as a puff of wind, and the powerful are not what they appear to be.  If you weigh them on the scales, together they are lighter than a breath of air.  Don’t make your living by extortion or put your hope in stealing.  And if your wealth increases.  Don’t make it the center of your life.  God has spoken plainly, and I have heard it many times:  Power, O God, belongs to You; unfailing love, O Lord, is yours.  Surely You repay all people according to what they have done.  Psalm 62

When we know Who God is, our strength becomes so much more powerful and so much quieter.

Think about it…

When someone gets angry with you and yells, it has an intimidating effect, but it leads to having less respect for that person.

When someone gets angry with you and they fall silent, it’s far scarier.  And you often end up holding a deeper reverence and respect for that person.  Partly because self-control is such a powerful tool.  They exhibited the self-control to keep quiet, but you knew they were still angry.  We are drawn to self-controlled people.

When we truly know God and have a deeper understanding of Who He is and what He can do…we will lead much quieter lives.  We will be far more difficult to provoke.  We won’t be perfect, but we will operate in much more restraint than most others.

Godly living doesn’t mean weak living…no, quite the opposite it means being so certain of Him that you carry authority on the inside and it times of trouble that authority leaks through your pores with nary a word.

Authority is what we really want.  If suddenly, all the believers began to operate in true authority, we would change the world in a day.

I encourage you to reach deep inside and ask God to become quiet strength within you.  Lean into Him and discover the authority you carry inside because of His Spirit.  It’s time to move in true authority and quiet strength.
