I want to piggyback on yesterday’s devotional with a deeper topic.
There are moments in the dreaming season when God brings in a change of plans. We have spoken about this regarding Abraham and Isaac, remember?
There are moments in the dream fulfillment process when God brings about a change of plans. What is your response to these moments?
White knuckled resistance is often the first one. Tantrums and pouting is often the second.
But something beautiful happens when we decide to partner with change. Some of the greatest dreams fulfilled in my life came through the route of change. Of surrender.
From the ashes I have seen God bring the most beautiful things. As He burned down all my presumptions and preconceived notions, I found something far more beautiful.
From the fires of surrender, the phoenix of reformed dreams emerges.
Fire is necessary for forging. To soften the metal, it must get very hot. Then it’s pounded into shape…why would we imagine that our lives would be full of ease and leisure when we know we are going to be forged in the fire?
We’ve talked about these topics before, but they keep coming up again…so I’m going to keep talking about them.
In this season of the earth, we must be more willing to change and be changed. We must learn to let go of what we thought things would be, to embrace what will be. It’s so much better than we imagined.
In our little family, we’ve seen so many blooms of dreams fulfilled lately. They look much different than we imagined, different than I imagined, but so much better. They were only able to be formed because we became willing to live the life God was giving us, not the one we imagined as best.
The best we can imagine, and the best God has for us, these are two very different things.
One will disappoint. One will be far more than we could ask or imagine.
Won’t you decide today to let God be the Leader of your life? I have decided to followJesus, no turning back. No turning back.
“My thoughts are nothing like your thoughts,” says the Lord. “And My ways are far beyond anything you could imagine. For just as the heavens are higher than the earth, so My ways are higher than your ways and My thoughts higher than your thoughts. “The rain and snow come down from the heavens and stay on the ground to water the earth. They cause the grain to grow, producing seed for the farmer and bread for the hungry. It is the same with My word. I send it out, and it always produces fruit. It will accomplish all I want it to, and it will prosper everywhere I send it. You will live in joy and peace. The mountains and hills will burst into song, and the trees of the field will clap their hands! Where once there were thorns, cypress trees will grow. Where nettles grew, myrtles will sprout up. These events will bring great honor to the Lord’s name; they will be an everlasting sign of His power and love.” Isaiah 55:8-13
