Behold: to perceive through sight or apprehension. To gaze upon.
Come let us behold our risen Lord. Come and gaze upon His glorious face. It is He Who saved us. To Him belongs all the glory, honor, and praise both now and forevermore.
Today I want to encourage you to behold our Savior.
I wonder what might happen if you would make it a regular practice to simply behold our Lord…
I intentionally reset myself by gazing upon His face. I don’t need to know everything, but I do need to know Him.
Knowing Him is the greatest privilege of my life. Being known by Him is a tremendous honor.
To love and be loved is the greatest gift on earth, isn’t it?
Close your eyes.
Take a moment and ask God to be with you now. Ask Jesus to show you His face. Then gaze upon Him. Look into His eyes. What do you see? He can hold the whole world and eternity of time in His eyes. He holds the peace and gentleness of a lamb in His eyes. In His eyes you can find justice. In His eyes you can see who you truly are. In His eyes you can see tomorrow. In His eyes there is a holiness that cannot be found anywhere else.
Gaze upon Him and learn about Who He is.
Jesus, I ask that You allow us to gaze upon Your glorious face. Show us Your glory. Let us see ourselves in Your eyes. Give us a glimpse of eternity. Set our hearts by Your gaze. We are Yours. The sheep of Your pasture. We have chosen to be chosen by You. Thank You for choosing us. You are worthy beyond all worthiness. We humbly come before You now, asking to be seen. See our hearts. Show us any way in us that is unpleasant to You. Remove all unrighteousness from our hearts. Lead us in Your way, Yahweh. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
Fear the Lord, you His holy people, for those who fear Him lack nothing. The lions may grow weak and hungry, but those who seek the Lord lack no good thing. Come, my children, listen to me; I will teach you the fear of the Lord. Whoever of you loves life and desires to see many good days, keep your tongue from evil and your lips form telling lies. Turn from evil and do good; seek peace and pursue it. The eyes of the Lord are on the righteous, and His ears are attentive to their cry; but the face of the Lord is against those who do evil, to blot out their name from the earth. The righteous cry out, and the Lord hears them; He delivers them from all their troubles. The Lord is close to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit. the righteous person may have many troubles, but the Lord delivers him from them all; He protects all his bones, not one of them will be broken. Psalm 34:9-20
