Resurrection Day 178: Don’t Be Afraid to Ask

I have noticed that many of us are afraid to ask God for our needs, much less, more…because we don’t want to be selfish or appear greedy.  We want to appear Godly and contrite in spirit, so we live smaller than God intended.

Let me expand your thoughts even further by this…in our smallness we could live so much more richly, even.  Living in abundance doesn’t only mean living in a mansion.  It can mean having more than enough to have an established family home and life.  We don’t honor God by being in debt or living miserly.  He is greater than that.

God is the One Who reminds us through Scripture…

I ask you, therefore, not to be discouraged because of my sufferings for you, which are your glory.  For this reason, I kneel before the Father, from Whom every family in heaven and on earth derives its name.  I pray that out of His glorious riches He may strengthen you with power through His Spirit in your inner being, so that Christ may dwell in your hearts through faith.  And I pray that you, being rooted and established in love, may have power, together with all the Lord’s holy people, to grasp how wide and long and high and deep is the love of Christ, and to know this love that surpasses knowledge- that you may be filled to the measure of all the fullness of God.  Now to Him Who is able to do immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine, according to His power that is at work within us, to Him be glory in the church and in Christ Jesus throughout all generations, for ever and ever!  Amen.  Ephesians 3:13-21

In this scripture we are implored not to be discouraged by Paul’s sufferings…but to look to the One Who is able to do immeasurably more than we can ask or imagine…

Immeasurably more than we could even think…

That’s a lot, isn’t it?
