Resurrection Day 188: Green Room

Have you ever been apart of any type of production that had a green room backstage?  The place where all the performers, speakers, actors, whoever is involved can relax and visit privately outside of the purview of everyone else.

I believe that sometimes we have green room seasons.  Times when we are not seen much publicly.  Times to focus most on the main “actors” in our life.  Times of being set apart so we can connect fully with those in our “cast”.

Like a couple that just gets married, there’s always a season when those two hideaway because they are enraptured in loving each other and the newness of married life.  They need the green room to protect them as they learn to navigate life as two, instead of one.

Does this all make sense?

I feel like far too many are more worried about missing out on the big production, therefore missing the honor and blessing of the green room.  The hidden place.  The exclusive spot.

None of us should be driven by the need to be seen…by anyone but God.  I do want Him to see me.  I do want to feel seen by Him.  But that is a totally different thing than longing to be seen by man.

Being seen by God requires vulnerability.  Willingness to not appear perfect.  Actively pursuing Him privately.

He sees us.  We know that.  But you also know, if you’re honest, that there are different ways of being seen.

My husband sees me.  That means, he notices me and all my nuance, and draws near to meet me or gives me space accordingly.  Being seen by Chris means that he sees me now, but in the reflection of all our years together too.

That’s a lot like what it is to be seen by God.  He sees you…now, then, and in the future.  It’s a wonderful thing.

I challenge you to be seen today.  Ask God to come and look upon you as you look upon Him.

I call on You, my God, for You will answer me; turn Your ear to me and hear my prayer.  Show me the wonders of Your great love, You Who save by Your right hand those who take refuge in You from their foes.  Keep me as the apple of Your eye; hide me in the shadow of Your wings.  Psalm 17:6-8
