There are some things that are far more important than others.
To ask Jesus into our hearts and to love God above all else, is undoubtedly the number One most important thing…
To love our neighbors as ourselves…is second.
I believe the next to be trust. Trust in the Lord in all things, at all times, and every circumstance.
Trust is evidence of our love. Being unwaveringly trustworthy is evidence of His love for us.
Trust is one of the most delicate things. It’s also something that once broken, is difficult to mend.
God has never and will never break our trust. That’s something to rest upon. It’s also an answer to many questions…
We ask, “How could a good God do this or that?”. The answer is we trust that God is always good.
We ask, “Why do bad things happen to “good” people?”. The answer is we are all sinners saved by grace and the One Who saved us had many bad things happen to Him…yet He was still God. How can we expect our lives to be more privileged than His?
Why is it often a persons’ first response to be angry and blame God when things don’t go the way they want them to. What if instead, we trusted that He is working something good in our lives. We only need to trust that God is Who He says He is…on the good days and the bad.
We are largely unwilling to suffer, have you noticed? God calls us to be long-suffering…so how does this line up? It doesn’t.
We owe Him our trust because He Who began a good work will remain faithful to completion.
Declare me innocent, O Lord, for I have acted with integrity; I have trusted in the Lord without wavering. Put me on trial, Lord, and cross-examine me. Test my motives and my heart. for I am always aware of Your unfailing love, and I have lived according to Your truth. I do not spend time with liars or go along with hypocrites. I hate the gatherings of those who do evil, and I refuse to join in with the wicked. I wash my hands and declare my innocence. I come to Your altar, O Lord, singing a song of thanksgiving and telling of all Your wonders. I love Your sanctuary, Lord, the place where Your glorious presence dwells. Don’t let me suffer the fate of sinners. Don’t condemn me along with murderers. Their hands are dirty with evil schemes, and they constantly take bribes. But I am not like that; I live with integrity. So redeem me and show me mercy. Now I stand on solid ground, and I will publicly praise the Lord. Psalm 26:1-12
