Resurrection Day 274: Spiritual Battle

The older I become the more I am aware that everything is spiritual in nature.  How can we do anything separate from the spiritual.  We are a spirit.  We have a body and soul…but we are a spirit. 

Therefore, we are spiritual beings…operating in the spirit at all times.  Our spirit is connected to everything we do.

Let’s read together…

Once you were dead because of your disobedience and your many sins.  You used to live in sin, just like the rest of the world, obeying the devil- the commander of the powers in the unseen world.  He is the spirit at work in the hearts of those who refuse to obey God.  All of us used to live that way, following the passionate desires and inclinations of our sinful nature.  By our very nature we were subject to God’s anger, just like everyone else.  But God is so rich in mercy, and He loved us so much, that even though we were dead because of our sins, He gave us life when He raised Christ from the dead.  (It is only by God’s grace that you have been saved!)  Ephesians 2:1-5

Before we were saved, we obeyed the devil.  Now we obey God.

This is the critical difference between us and the world.  It’s truly that simple.  It’s really that easy.

We have a really bad habit of overcomplicating things.  The way we view people is often overcomplicated.  This scripture makes it clear that once we were all dead because of disobedience and sin.  Only because of Jesus are we alive now.  We all once obeyed the devil.  Now we obey God.  I repeat myself because I don’t think we’re honest about the simplicity of this.

When we can’t view this in simple black and white terms then we can’t reconcile with the evil that many men.  Further, if we aren’t careful, we can become sympathetic to that evil…instead of standing for what’s good.

God is good. 

Choices are much simpler when we view the world through the lens of goodness.

For instance, believers should have no decision to make when it comes to abortion.  Whether it’s simply an unplanned pregnancy or a rape…if the fruit of the encounter produces a life…we have no right to end it.  None.

Full stop.

You don’t right a sin by committing another sin.

The spiritual battle is clear.  The cost is life or death…for the next generation especially.  We owe it to them to stand and fight.

Finally, brothers and sisters, whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable- if anything is excellent or praiseworthy- think about such things.  Philippians 4:8
