Have you ever been around people, maybe even family, who don’t outwardly show their love? People who just say, “Well, they know I love them. I don’t have to say or do anything.”
I disagree.
We should openly display our love for those around us, just like we should openly display our love for Jesus.
If we can’t be open and honest about our love for family, how can we be open and honest about our love for Jesus?
Jesus deserves the full expression of our love. Our families do also.
Loving Jesus first creates an artesian well within us. A constant flow and filling. Loving Him brings an increase and the ability to love others more freely…we should show our love.
Show it in word and deed. Show it in how we spend our time. Show it in how we prepare for the future. Invite Jesus, and then our family, into our plans for the future. Learn what partnership really looks like…partnership blooms in an openly loving relationship.
I know there were generations of people who lived with parents who didn’t say, “I love you.” But that has bred nothing but callousness and insecurity and misunderstanding.
We need to hear and to say, “I love you.”
It’s all throughout Scripture…God saying He loves us.
How will you respond?
An open rebuke is better than hidden love. Proverbs 27:5
What is the purpose of love if it remains hidden?
Today I encourage you to exercise your love. Tell the Lord how much you love Him and live your life today in a way that confirms that declaration. Tell your family that you love them and show it in the way you act toward them. Be love today.
Dear friends, let us love one another, for love comes from God. Everyone who loves has been born of God and knows God. Whoever does not love does not know God, because God is love. This is how God showed His love among us: He sent His one and only Son into the world that we might live through Him. This is love: not that we loved God, but that He loved us and sent His Son as an atoning sacrifice for our sins. Dear friends, since God so loved us, we also ought to love one another. No one has ever seen God; but if we love one another, God lives in us and His love is made complete in us. 1 John 4:7-12
