There are seasons through which we live that feel never ending. The length of these seasons can sometimes make us forget the good times. The times of abundance. The time of peace. I know, from experience, that this is true.
There have been times during our current season that I have all but forgotten how far we’ve already come. There have been times in the desert that all I could see before me and behind was dry, desolate desert and in those moments, it is difficult to remain hope filled.
But hope springs eternal.
Just when we feel all might be lost, it springs up! Hope!!
Springs in the desert. They are always there to be found.
I have an encouragement for you today…
All seasons end.
Seasons are just that, seasons. They are made to be temporary. They lead into the next season. So, one thing we can be certain of, is that. One season leads to another. It’s all a sign of progress, if we will just keep moving forward.
Each season carries lessons to learn. When we are willing to surrender to a season, it makes it far more tolerable.
But my main encouragement for today is for when a season has ended…when a season ends, it’s over forever.
Isn’t that a wonderful thing to remember while in a difficult season?!
Seasons are like contractions that a woman has during childbirth. Each contraction serves it purpose in bringing forth the birth, but at the end of each one we can thank it for doing its good work and let it go…because we will never have that contraction again.
How do I know a season has ended?
Because it never comes again.
That’s my word…wipe your hands clean and know in your spirit that once a season ends, it’s over. We shouldn’t drag it out by refusing to move forward. We shouldn’t cling to it by acting as a victim.
It’s time to wash our hands and let it go.
I feel it burning in my spirit that the greatest obstacle to forward motion is often our resistance to let go and trust God enough for us to move forward.
Are you willing? Will you choose to move forward?
Thank God for the season that’s ending and embrace what He’s doing today!
“I will make a covenant of peace with my people and drive away the dangerous animals from the land. Then they will be able to camp safely in the wildest places and sleep in the woods without fear. I will bless my people and their homes around my holy hill. And in the proper season I will send the showers they need. There will be showers of blessing. The orchards and fields of my people will yield bumper crops, and everyone will live in safety. When I have broken their chains of slavery and rescued them from those who enslaved them, then they will know that I am the Lord. They will no longer be prey for other nations, and wild animals will no longer devour them. They will live in safety, and no one will frighten them. And I will make their land famous for its crops, so my people will never again suffer from famines or the insults of foreign nations. In this way, they will know that I, the Lord their God, am with them. And they will know that they, the people of Israel, are my people, says the Sovereign Lord. You are my flock, the sheep of my pasture. You are my people, and I am your God. I, the Sovereign Lord, have spoken!” Ezekiel 34:25-31
