This morning God reminded me of a vision I had years ago. I stood on the edge of a rock that was by the ocean and when a huge wave came it knocked me down. I stood up again, and when I did my feet became part of the rock. Another wave came and knocked me down except my feet were still part of the rock. When I stood again my legs were now part of the rock. Again, a wave came, and I was knocked over above the waist. Still, I stood back upright and my whole body became grafted into the rock. Then, when the waves came I was firm and nothing could knock me down.
Wow. Let that sink in a minute.
I want to be in Christ. He is in me, I want to walk so near to Him that I don’t know where I end and He begins. I want to be so grafted into my Firm Foundation that nothing else matters.
I want to stand on Christ at all times, and in every circumstance.
Will I ever achieve this? Who knows, but I will spend my whole life trying.
What does your foundation look like today? Have you allowed the Lord to firmly establish your root system in Him? It is a worthwhile investment. I am often shocked at how many believers still don’t consult God on day to day life decisions. I call them “crisis Christians”. They focus on God and praying only when they are in desperate need, but once He provides their way out, they head out on their own again.
I pray I never do that.
I want to be so connected to Him that I hear His every word and feel His slightest nudge. Don’t you?
Lord, draw me closer. Hold my head near Your chest so I can hear the rhythm of Your breath. Let me be one who dwells close with You all my days. Take me into the Holy of Holies and let me make my bed at Your feet. I want….No I long to be nearer and nearer to You with every breath I breathe. I worship and adore You, in Jesus Name, Amen
Take a minute today and focus on Christ as your firm foundation. Feel yourself reaching deep into the dirt of His foundation. Drink in the aroma of His presence. Establish a strong connection between you and Him before heading out into the day. I promise you won’t regret it.
Therefore, everyone who hears these words of mine and puts them into practice is like a wise man who built his house on the rock. The rain came down, the streams rose, and the winds blew and beat against that house; yet it did not fall, because it had its foundation on the rock. But everyone who hears these words of mine and does not put them into practice is like a foolish man who built his house on sand. The rain came down, the streams rose, and the winds blew and beat against that house, and it fell with a great crash. Matthew 7:24-27
I love You, O Lord, my strength. The Lord is my rock, in whom I take refuge. He is my shield and the horn of my salvation, my stronghold. I call to the Lord, who is worthy of praise, and I am saved from my enemies. Psalm 18:1-2
