Day 100: Making Fear Afraid of Me (April 10)

Submit yourselves, then, to God.  Resist the devil, and he will flee from you.  Come near to God and He will come near to you.  James 4:7-8a

Recently, I had the thought, “I want to make fear afraid of me.”  I spoke out those words in a prayer.  “Lord, I want to be so submitted to You and resisting the enemy so much that he runs away from me.”  Scripture tells us it will happen, so why not?

I have decided to no longer be crippled, held-back, intimidated, subservient, manipulated, or bound by fear.  How about you?

Lately whenever the feeling of fear or fearful thoughts begin to lurk near me, I turn straight toward them and praise my Savior.  I actually have begun to stare down fear.  I imagine myself looking straight into fears eyes while I begin praising God and thanking Him for my many blessings.

It feels like a one two punch!  Take that!  You (fear) don’t own me.  I am a servant of God.  I am a co-heir with Christ, you have no authority in my life.

I imagine standing with my real Family. God the Father, Son and Holy Spirit with me in a family photo.  Yep, that puts things into a new perspective doesn’t it?

Resist the enemy, and he will flee from you.

Resist the enemy, and he will flee from you.

That’s powerful stuff, right there.  Powerful, and true.

I suggest next time you feel the chilling tendril of fear trying to worm its way across your shoulders and into your heart, you stand up and look it straight in the eyes and say, “NO! Not today!!”  and immediately begin to praise God for all He’s done and for all the wonderful blessings you have in your life.  Every life is full of blessings, some of us just don’t quite realize it yet.  If that’s you, then it’s high time you stand up and count it all joy!  Count every single blessing in your life.

Did you wake up this morning? That’s a blessing.

Did you sleep in a warm bed?  That’s a blessing.

Can you see?  Hear?  Walk?  Laugh?  Sing?  Jump?  Run?  Love?  Receive love?  Blessing after blessing.

Come on! Pull yourself up by your bootstraps and take command where God said you can!

Resist the enemy , and he will flee from you.

Submit yourselves, then, to God.  Resist the devil, and he will flee from you.  Come near to God and He will come near to you.  James 4:7-8a

Praise the Lord!  Blessed is the man who fears the Lord, who finds great delight in His commands.  Psalm 112:1

Great are the works of the Lord; they are pondered by all who delight in them.  Psalm 111:2
