Day 296: Power, Love and a Sound Mind (October 23)

As we roll into the election season, I feel the effect of the constant fear mongering that all politicians and media keep speaking into the world around us.  The Bible reminds us that the tongue has great power.  Life and death, to be exact.  Why then, do so many speak curses on our country?

I so often hear believers, people with solid walks with Jesus, lamenting that things are terrible and so on, and then saying, “Of course it must be this way because the end is near.”  While I agree the end is coming closer, I have also been strongly and firmly convicted by God Almighty that I am to live out the lifetime I’ve been gifted in full freedom and pursuit until the very end.  Why would I just pack it in and say, “Oh, the world is so terrible, I can’t do anything to change it, so I will just sit here and talk about how bad it is.”?  That’s not the great commission that I read of in the New Testament, and as far as I know, the end of that Commission has yet to come.

I don’t mean for this to sound harsh, but I do intend for it to stir you.  You do not have to succumb to the fear and trepidation.  We are, after all, called to have power, love and a sound mind, or as some versions state, self-discipline.

For the Spirit God gave us does not make us timid, but gives us power, love and self-discipline.                           2 Timothy 1:7(NIV)

For God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power and of love and of a sound mind.                                    2 Timothy 1:7(NKJV)

Isn’t it interesting how one version uses self-control, and another uses a sound mind.  It sounds as if we have a choice to maintain a sound mind.  That choice is called, self-control.

This means, we do not have to respond to the fear that the enemy is trying to control the world with, but instead we can maintain a sound mind.  Surrendering our thoughts to the Creator of the earth and not allowing the prince of the earth to have dominion over our thoughts.

No, I will no longer allow the enemy to have ground in my mind.

I realize that it may seem as if the darkness is more prevalent, but what God spoke to me was, “Lisa, you asked me to expose the darkness of the liberal spirit, so the world could see and flee from it.  This exposing is necessary.  Don’t fear it.”

This is so true.  For many years now, I have been asking God to bring light into the darkness covering the political landscape of America.  He is now doing that.  Now how will you respond?

This is our time.  Our time to walk in agreement with Truth and to see another Great Awakening crash over America.  This is His time.  His time to release His Spirit over America in ways we’ve never seen before.  How will you respond?
