For years now, I have struggled. I have struggled to figure out how to pray over those who seem bent on evil. The traffickers, the murderers, the oppressive governments of the world and the politicians seemingly bent on evil in our own country.
Then I read these verses… What then shall we say? Is God unjust? Not at all! For He says to Moses, “I will have mercy on whom I have mercy, and I will have compassion on whom I have compassion.” It does not, therefore, depend on man’s desire or effort, but on God’s mercy. For the Scripture says to Pharaoh: “I raised you up for this very purpose, that I might display my power in you and that My name might be proclaimed in all the earth.” Therefore, God has mercy on whom He wants to have mercy, and He hardens whom He wants to harden. One of you will say to me; “Then why does God still blame us? For who resists His will?” But who are you, O man, to talk back to God? “Shall what is formed say to Him Who formed it, ‘Why did You make me like this?’ ” Does not the potter have the right to make out of the same lump of clay some pottery for noble purposes and some for common use? What if God, choosing to show His wrath and make His power known, bore with great patience the objects of His wrath- prepared for destruction? What if He did this to make the riches of His glory known to the objects of His mercy, whom He prepared in advance for glory- even us, whom He also called, not only from the Jews but also from the Gentiles? Romans 9:14-24
To me, this falls in the category of “things too wonderful for me to comprehend.” We simply won’t know this side of heaven, why some are the way they are.
It can be quite obvious that some are operating out of a demonic spirit. Hitler, for example, was clearly overtaken by the enemy. He along with many others from the past were most definitely operating from an evil place. Don’t think that can’t and doesn’t still happen.
Yes, God is judge, but when we see the fruit of a life it is good evidence of who they stand with and Who they don’t. Anyone can be saved, but that doesn’t mean we partner with the insanity of a person who is clearly coming from a place of death and destruction, right?.
We have a responsibility to pay attention. We are to be forgiving, not naïve. We are to love others, not agree with sin. There is a major difference and we must begin to take this call seriously.
The truth is, the antichrist will come, and the Bible makes it clear that the spirit of the antichrist is already roaming the earth.
By this you know the Spirit of God: every spirit that confesses that Jesus Christ has come in the flesh is from God; and every spirit that does not confess Jesus is not from God; this is the spirit of the antichrist, of which you have heard that it is coming, and now it is already in the world. 1 John 4:2-3
Children, it is the last hour; and just as you heard that antichrist is coming, even now many antichrists have appeared; from this we know that it is the last hour. 1 John 2:18
Prayer Moment: God, we need Your discernment to know who is operating from the spirit of the antichrist. Help us to not be so afraid of being seen as judgmental that we leave ourselves open to deception. Instead, help us to walk out a healthy balance of loving discernment, being wise as serpents and gentle as doves. We need You. In Jesus name, Amen.
