Deeper Day 181: Proverbs 11:11

It may seem unfair or even unbelievable, but we are living in the times that we are living in. We must face where we are and what’s happening, but we don’t have to be subject to it. Meaning, no matter what I see or hear, I will continue to believe that the truths found in scripture are still that, truth.

Friends, we are still called to live in this world, but not to be of it. That has not and will not change. I implore you to remember who and Whose you are. Now more than ever, we must be infused with our true identity, which is Christ. That has not changed. The world can’t take that away. Circumstance cannot change that. Laws cannot write it away. It CANNOT change.

One day recently when I was feeling particularly overwhelmed and didn’t know exactly how to pray because it feels like too much is wrong right now, (I know I can’t be alone in this experience) I went to scripture and I read this…

Through the blessing of the upright a city is exalted, but by the mouth of the wicked it is destroyed      Proverbs 11:11

When I read the above passage, I am reminded that when I speak blessing over my city it matters. I am afraid far too many are found cursing their cities and not blessing them. Speaking about all the problems and not speaking its true identity over it. I have been on a journey of speaking blessing over America for quite some time and when I read this verse it helped me remember just how important that practice is. Let’s look at the next part of the sentence now…

But by the mouth of the wicked it is destroyed.

This is a sobering statement, but in my opinion it’s time for us to walk out of letting the mouth of the wicked drown out the glory of our blessings! Every single day I encourage you to begin to speak hope and blessing over your city and our country. We have the power to release blessing every moment we are awake. Why would we choose not to tap into this practice? It’s very clearly written in scripture for our instruction. God actually gave us a war plan here in this verse. Don’t forget, our battle is not against flesh and blood. When you remember that your battle isn’t actually pointed toward other people, rather it’s against principalities, etc. then it helps you to think in a different way. You must have a different strategy when dealing with something supernatural. The word of God is that strategy, and in it He instructs you to speak blessings. Will you try it?

Prayer Moment: God, help me to always bless and not curse my city and America. Teach me how to fight these battles. I know our time in America is not over and I also know You are waiting for Your church to rise up and stand upon You. Give me courage to not be like everyone else. Give me courage to walk away from critical conversations. Help me to be full of hope all the time. Let me be someone who brings life to a room simply because I’m so centered upon You. I want to be light to the world like You told me to be. Help me to fight with You and not against You. I adore You. In Jesus name, Amen.
