Deeper Day 336: This is our battle

While listening to a short sermon recently I was reminded again of Caleb and Joshua and their report of what they found in the promised land. Do you remember? They went to scout out the land along with a few others, and while the others were focused on the giants in the land, Caleb and Joshua were confident that God would give them what they needed to conquer them.

One group focused on the problem. Two men focused on the answer.

We all know how this ended…the only two from that whole group to enter into the promised land were Caleb and Joshua. That was a steep price to pay for having an incorrect focus.

Today, as we see things unfolding that we never imagined, let us remain fully focused on the God of the universe. He is in all of this. Every time I feel fear or discouragement try to rise up and cast a shadow upon my hope, I stop and remind myself and re-affirm my trust in God. I will say, “God, I see ____, but I know You can fix anything. So, do whatever it is You are going to do.”

God doesn’t need my instruction. God desires to have my trust.

When I see the “giants” in the land, I don’t need to figure it all out. I don’t need to even see the solution. I simply need to trust God, remember His promises and rest.

This is our battle. We were made to be alive during this time. We are not in the wrong place, we are in the right place. We should not stop pressing forward because it seems the problem is too large. We should not relent because we fear backlash. We must keep moving forward.

There is a lot that needs to be exposed, and this is the season God has chosen to do so. We can rest in that. We can move forward boldly and with confidence because God did not mistakenly place us in this season. This is an intentional move of God. The world needs this to be made right. No matter what anyone else says, America is a beacon of hope to all. We are a republic, on purpose. We are one of a few places with religious freedom. We will stand.

When all of this is over and the dust settles, will you be found hiding or cleaning the blood of the enemy off of your sword? I know which one I will be.

Prayer Moment: God, thank You for creating me for such a time as this. I thank You for placing me where I am on purpose. Help me to always know my season. Teach me how to always be battle ready. Never let fear guide me. Hold me in Your peace. Give me fierceness. I know I am created to conquer. Thank You for making me strong in You. I am Yours. In Jesus’ name, amen.

But Caleb tried to quiet the people as they stood before Moses. “Let’s go at once to take the land,” he said. “We can certainly conquer it!”

And Joshua commanded the officers of the people, “Pass through the midst of the camp and command the people, ‘Prepare your provisions, for within three days you are to pass over this Jordan to go in and take possession of the land that the Lord your God is giving you to possess.’” Joshua 1:10-11
