The Fountain Day 184: Compassionate God

Our God is a consuming fire, yes, but He is also so compassionate.  Living life in His Presence makes everything an opportunity…an opportunity to grow and an opportunity to experience a measure of His grace.

His grace…

Don’t you just love it?

Read this with me…

The Lord is merciful and compassionate, slow to get angry and filled with unfailing love.  The Lord is good to everyone.  He showers compassion on all His creation.  All of You works will thank You, Lord, and Your faithful followers will praise You.  They will speak of the glory of Your kingdom; they will give examples of Your power.  They will tell about Your mighty deeds and about the majesty and glory of Your reign.  For Your kingdom is an everlasting kingdom.  You rule throughout all generations.  The Lord always keeps His promises; He is gracious in all He does.  The Lord helps the fallen and lifts those bent beneath their loads.  The eyes of all look to You in hope; You give them their food as they need it.  When You open Your hand, You satisfy the hunger and thirst of every living thing.  The Lord is righteous in everything He does; He is filled with kindness.  The Lord is close to all who call on Him, yes, to all who call on Him in truth.  He grants the desires of those who fear Him; He hears their cries for help and rescues them.  The Lord protects all those who love Him, but He destroys the wicked.  I will praise the Lord, and may everyone on earth bless His holy name forever and ever.  Psalm 145:8-21

I love the part of this that says, “The Lord helps the fallen and lifts those bent beneath their loads.”  Have you ever felt bent beneath your load?  I sure have…I’ve actually had moments when I stand to walk but am majorly hunched over because I feel so pressured inside.  Maybe I’m alone in this, but I would wager that I’m not…

Life is hard sometimes, but we don’t have to be consumed with it all.

He daily bears our burdens.  It’s even in scripture…

Praise be to the Lord, to God our Savior, Who daily bears our burdens.  Psalm 68:19

Today is a wonderful day to have an encounter with God…

Imagine yourself taking all the burdens of your heart and handing them over to God.  As you do, ask Him to take them from you.  Thank Him for being all that you will never be…He alone is God.  He alone is good.  After this transaction, ask God if He will give you a gift today.  What encouragement does He have for your heart?

Lord, I ask You now to give everyone who reads this devotional a special word of love. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

He determines the number of the stars and calls them each by name.  Great is our Lord and mighty in power; His understanding has no limit.  The Lord sustains the humble but casts the wicked to the ground.  Sing to the Lord with thanksgiving; make music to our God on the harp.  He covers the sky with clouds; He supplies the earth with rain and makes grass grow on the hills.  He provides food for the cattle and for the young ravens when they call.  His pleasure is not in the strength of the horse, nor His delight in the legs of a man; the Lord delights in those who fear Him, who put their hope in His unfailing love.  Psalm 147:4-11
