Recently, during a worship set I was leading, I began to hear the words, “practically impractical”…I began to sing it out and in a flash I saw that I want God to do the practically impractical in me.
Some of the things He does, will only make sense in Heaven…but I don’t want to resist those simply because I can’t make sense of them…do you?
I want to be used by God. Sometimes, He uses me in ways that make so much sense. Sometimes, He uses me in ways that seem completely crazy…only to make sense afterward. Only He knows what’s really going on.
We must choose. Are we worried about inconvenience more than His presence? Are we more worried about looking silly than obeying Him? These are questions we must ask ourselves daily.
I know that some of the most powerful times I’ve seen Him move, were when He had me step out in a way that felt awkward or overly simple. He confounds the wise with the simple.
I am a super practical person. I seem to have the gift of seeing into situations, cutting through the fluff, and finding what’s really going on and a quick way to resolution. This makes life interesting when God desires to use me in practically impractical ways. Ha!! But oh, how I love Him.
He loves me enough to lead me past my own reason and into His heavenly mindset.
The things of God are so impractical sometimes that they stumble right into practicality. But we’ll never experience those things if we are always resisting or only willing to do things that we can see the beginning and end of…
It’s the mystery of God that is so intriguing to me. I love the parts of Him that I get to discover and explore. His mystery draws me in and confounds me. Don’t you love it too?!
Be good to Your servant, that I may live and obey Your word. Open my eyes to see the wonderful truths in Your instructions. I am only a foreigner in the land. Don’t hide Your commands from me! I am always overwhelmed with a desire for Your regulations. You rebuke the arrogant; those who wander from Your commands are cursed. Don’t let them scorn and insult me, for I have obeyed Your laws. Even princes sit and speak against me, but I will meditate on Your decrees. Your laws please me; they give me wise advice. Psalm 119:17-24
I will pursue Your commands, for You expand my understanding. Psalm 119:32
