As believers, we live in hope of eternal life. My spirit was rocked this morning when I read the following scripture…
This One Who is life itself was revealed to us, and we have seen Him. And now we testify and proclaim to you that He is the One Who is eternal life. He was with the Father, and then He was revealed to us. 1 John 1:2
Jesus is eternal life.
To some of you that may be a “duh” moment, but to me it was an awe-inspiring shift to think about the fact that Jesus doesn’t just give eternal life, but He IS eternal life.
Jesus is eternal life.
Wow. Let that sink in. I think it’s so important to remember that Jesus IS eternal life. Our bridge to heaven. Our Brother, even though that’s always hard to imagine. He is now my Brother. Thank God.
Jesus is eternal life.
When we walk in Jesus every day, when we lean in and listen to His voice and allow Him to guide us…we can hold hands with eternity. He is eternal life therefore His words lead us in eternal ways. If we turn our eyes from the earth and all the things that will fall away, we can lock eyes with Eternal Life.
Sure, you have Jesus in your heart…but do you have a real relationship with Him?
I keep bringing it up because it’s the most important thing. To make it through this time…or anytime really…we must have a real relationship with Jesus, and we must know the Word. The crux of it all, is that Jesus is Eternal Life.
“For this is how God loved the world: He gave His one and only Son, so that everyone who believes in Him will not perish but have eternal life.” John 3:16
We could combine the meaning of the two verses we’ve read today and say, ”…So that everyone who believes in Him will not perish but have Jesus.”
Isn’t that powerful?!
Have you ever thought of it this way? I know that I haven’t. I just love the Word of God.
Jesus is eternal life.
Does that make it easier for you to desire to share the gospel? God gave Jesus to die for us, so we could live in Him. It doesn’t get more powerful and loving than that.
