The Fountain Day 337: Honesty is the best policy

While it is easy to become distracted and even a bit obsessed with all the wrongs that are happening in our country…it’s more important to be focused on God.  Anything that distracts us from God, can be used by the enemy to make a wedge.  He doesn’t care what it is, he only wants to attempt to remove glory from God…even though that’s not possible.  What I’m getting at is this…become captivated with God…let Him hold your full focus.  Avoid distraction and remain part of the resistance.

Those who lead good people along an evil path will fall into their own trap, but the honest will inherit good things.  Proverbs 28:10

This scripture reminds us that those leading in evil will pay a price…it’s not a question of “if” they will, it is assured that “yes” they will.  There is no way out of that fact, except salvation.  Either they continue in their wickedness without repentance, or they come to Jesus and ask for forgiveness, allowing Him to become Lord over their life.  That’s it.  There are no further options.  Now that we know that is settled…it’s no longer a distraction.

Honest people will inherit good things.  Yet another part of what is certain.

When we know where we are going…Heaven…and we know we will inherit good things…then we’ve removed so much of what causes fear in people.

When we receive Jesus into our hearts and choose to lead honest lives…we can then embrace so much freedom.  We can fight battles, knowing we will win.  We can lean into God’s direction for our lives and know that success is inevitable.  We can rest in what is sure.

We can live honest lives.  If we’re honest about who we are and Whose we are, then we will have all the confidence in the world.

Today I hope that you will reflect on all the promises God has spoken to us through His Word.  These things are set.  We don’t have to worry about Him changing His mind.  He alone is unturning.

Living an honest life means we do life honestly…whether business or personal…but I also believe it requires us to be honest with ourselves.  Asking the tough questions.

Am I a person who blesses others, or do I only seek to be blessed?

Am I a person who is willing to give generously to others, or do I only seek to be given to?

Do I follow Jesus because I love Him, or only because I don’t want to go to hell?

His whole plan was relationship…are you giving Him that?

Turn my eyes from worthless things and give me life through Your word.  Reassure me of Your promise, made to those who fear You.  Help me abandon my shameful ways; for Your regulations are good.  I long to obey Your commandments!  Renew my life with Your goodness.  Psalm 119:37-40
