I recently had a life-changing moment. A client of mine was meeting with Jesus, and He said, “Someone else’s opinion of you is none of your business.” When she recounted what she heard Him saying, I was immediately awe-struck. Set free, even.
Someone else’s opinion of me is none of my business…someone else’s opinion of you is none of your business.
Let this statement of truth pour its healing waters over you.
As only God can do…He set my whole life free in that quick moment. I struggled to continue with the appointment I was having after I heard it.
The statement is powerful for a variety of reasons. One, a person’s opinion of you has no impact on who you are or what your value is to God. Two, a person’s opinion carries their wounding and prejudice and experience with it…and may have no actual reflection of the truth about you. Three, sometimes people will simply be trying to manipulate you by lording their opinions over you. Four, God’s opinion is the only one that should matter to you anyway.
I encourage you to shake free of every person’s opinion of you, once and for all. Let go of the good, bad, and ugly opinions that others have held about you. People don’t get to decide who you are…who you were…and who you will become. So, be free!!
You are allowed to be free from all the words others have spoken over you and about you. You are allowed to not listen to the haughty opinions of others. You are allowed to have a discerning ear that only hears God’s voice and dulls the words bent on destroying, distracting, and sabotaging you. You are free. As free as you want to be. It takes a decision to stop allowing other’s opinions to take up more real estate in your mind and heart than God’s
Are you ready to be free?
God, I return to sender, every thought or opinion that others have released over me. I stand in direct opposition to the lying voice of the enemy. I sever, break, and destroy all agreement with faulty opinions of myself. I ask You now to release over me…Your thoughts for me. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
Test me, O Lord, and try me, examine my heart and my mind; for Your love is ever before me, and I walk continually in Your truth. Psalm 26:2-3
